Classes for Fall will start the week of September 15th and meet weekly for 10 classes. Classes are intended to be full year classes, but registration is offered separately for Fall and Winter/Spring.
Classes are kept small intentionally so that we can work effectively with each child, but also so the children have the opportunity to develop a sense of community in the class with the other children. Classes are fifty minutes long.
Participation in all the festivals is included in the tuition for the classes. Families of students receive a 10% discount on all workshops. Families with multiple children enrolled in classes will receive a 10% discount on their enrollments.
Class locations vary by class, please reach out for location.
Ages 6 and up. In this class children will make their first pair of knitting needles and will learn the basics of knitting.
Ages 7 and up. This class is for children who are comfortable with all the beginning knitting skills and are ready to learn new skills. We will learn how to increase and decrease mid-row and how to purl.
Ages 8 and up. Unlike knitting, which uses both hands equally, crochet uses the dominant hand. We will learn how to crochet both square objects and round objects.
4th grade and up. This class will focus on cross-stitch in Fall and embroidery in Winter/Spring. As we think about patterns for cross-stitch, we will explore color theory. Then, we will work on two different cross-stitch projects to enact what we have learned about color.
5th grade and up. Children need to have previous knitting experience to take this class (I am offering a summer workshop in August if your child wants to learn knitting in order to take this class). We will knit a pair of socks - the commitment to this class must be for both Fall and Winter/Spring as the sock process is long.
